Ready to shake up your style?! That might sound a little intimidating, but there are plenty of easy ways to start stepping outside your current fashion comfort zone. Though we’re dressing up for the outside world less often these days, it’s still just as important to up your fashion game and try something new! Whether you're a fashion pro or new to personal style, we’ve got your back with some helpful tips for bringing your fashion game to the next level.

Have Fun

First off, changing it up with your fashion style should be fun! We’re all constantly evolving over time, so our style should do the same. Embrace the sense of freedom fashion provides for your self-expression! This is a chance to play around with different colors, fabrics, or outfit combos, and maybe try the looks you’ve hesitated to try in the past. Make daring choices and give it all a try -- as long as you’re still having fun with it!

Find Inspiration

The most successful fashion choices are all about creativity and personal flair. That being said, it’s always a good idea to draw inspiration from others! Find style ideas on Pinterest, on the feeds of fashionable women on Instagram, from the websites of your favorite stores, or in the shiny pages of your favorite magazines. YouTube is also filled with tons of fashion influencers showing their closets, makeup routines, and fav accessories. Then, hone in on the specific elements that draw you to those looks--is it the textures, the statement pieces, or the fit? Make note of this, and start to think about how you might incorporate these elements into your own personal style.

Expand Your Mind

Before you dismiss a style or trend you’ve never tried before, imagine the potential! Take a moment to ask yourself: What’s holding you back? Could you incorporate parts of the style into your existing look? We’ll fill you in on a little secret: you can make any style work for you if you own it. After all, confidence is the best accessory! So reach for those statement shoes or the pretty pastels, and wear them with an energy that says, “I’m loving my new look!”

Start Small

You don’t have to expect yourself to make a huge change overnight. So before you fully commit to an entirely new look, consider taking smaller steps! For example, if your style is typically more understated, make a bold statement with chunky jewelry before upgrading to a full wardrobe of bright colors. If you’re more of a boho babe, add some edge with a studded jacket. Dabble in new styles before you fully commit.

Get Comfortable

What pieces can you never give up? If you need a dose of comfort amongst the changes you’re making, find a way to incorporate pieces you already love into the new style you’re trying. Say your style is sporty—instead of a sports top over your favorite leggings, try a blouse that’s long and flowy, with the same staple leggings. If you’re not quite ready for a jacket with a bold pattern, incorporate a patterned accessory into your everyday look instead, like a clutch or headband. You don’t have to completely ditch your old-style -- you can easily try toned-down versions of the style you’re striving for. Make it your own!

Stay True to You

The key to trying new things is to stay true to yourself. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable in your new look, it’s okay to take a step back and consider what feels authentic to you. After every change you make, ask yourself three key questions:

“Is this me?”

“Does this make me feel good?”

“Does this represent who I am and who I’m becoming?”

If the answer is yes, then hold on to those changes. Getting out of your comfort zone doesn’t have to be a drastic transformation. It’s all about trying new things and then putting your own personal twist on them. We can’t wait to see what you come up with, girl!
